V.A.T.S. Spotting:
------------------
If you’re heading into seemingly-hostile territory or simply want to survey
the area around you for enemies you might not yet see, try hitting the VATS
button over and over again as you make your character turn around, searching
all angles. Doing so will alert you to any enemies you may not yet see by
zooming in on them in VATS mode. You’ll realistically be unable to do damage
to your foes from such a distance, but it’s a good way to spot foes before
they spot you so you know what you’re getting yourself into before the crap
hits the fan.
First Bobble Head:
------------------
When you're done talking with your characters father about the "Generalized
Occupational Aptitude Test", your father will sit down at his desk; near the
top right corner of his desk is your first Limited Edition Vault-Tec Bobble
head.
Medicine:
"The smart man knows a bandage only hides his wounds"
Your medicine skill is permanently increased by 10 points.
Infinite Caps:
--------------
To get do this, you are going to need the item, 'Naughty Nightware'. First,
go to the Marigold Station, in Grayditch, in there, you will find an information
kiosk/desk thing with a body and a holotape. Listen to it. It gives you directions
on finding the item. Itâ??s actually pretty funny. You need to explore the station
until you find a section with a gate and a firehose station. Search inside the
firehose box to find a key. Then continue to explore the tunnels until you find a
room with a siren-like spinning light above it. Inside, you can use the key to open
a safe. There, you will find the Naughty Nightware. You will then encounter someone
who wants it back. Either kill him, or use the speech bonus option.
Either way, don't give it back.
Then you want to find a small town called Girdershade (way on the west side of the
map and a little south, close to the entrance of Vault 112). Talk to Ronald Laren.
He is not hard to find, there are only two people there. Sell him the Naughty
Nightware for 200 caps. Now all you need to do is steal it back from him when he
is not looking. Save before pickpocketing, incase you fail. Tak to him about the
Naughty Nightware again, and you can sell it back for another 200 caps. He does
not run out of caps, like other sales people in the game, so you can repeat as many
times as you want. The only downside is that each time you steal, you will get
negative karma.
Infinite Exp:
-------------
For infinite experience in Fallout 3, you need to be at least level 10 and have
the Sandman Perk. Sandman requires that you have at least a 60 rating in sneak.
It allows you to silently kill people in their sleep with an added EXP bonus
every time. So apparently, kids, or at least some kids, canâ??t be killed in the
game. A good spot for this glitch is in a town in the South called, Andale. There
are two kids, one in each of the two main houses that you can use this trick on.
All you have to do, is use the wait function until it is about 1 AM. When everyone
is asleep, sneak into a house, crouch, and use the Murder skill that comes with
the Sandman Perk. USE ON THE CHILDREN ONLY. They wonâ??t die, but you will still
get the experience for killing them, allowing you to do the trick as much as you
want. Best of all, using this murder trick has no effect on your Karma, and you
will get 50 EXP every time, which is a lot in this game.

tattered banners that are strung up. Use your local map to find it.
Hacking Indefinitely:
---------------------
Here’s a great tip (though it will be obvious for some people). When you hack a computer
in the game, you have four tries to hack it successfully. If you don’t hack it successfully
on the fourth attempt (as in, you don’t guess the proper password), the station you’re
trying to hack will permanently shut down. But if you only try three times and bail out
of the process before trying for a fourth time, the password will reset, giving you three
more options. You can do this indefinitely without risking shutting the terminal down.

Finding Dogmeat:
----------------
Dogmeat is found in Scrapyard. On the world map, Scrapyard is in the top right corner
of the square that is two squares directly below Minefield. Follow the clear triangle
on your compass if you are having problems finding it. Go into Scrapyard and look/
listen for fighting. Your will find Dogmeat fighting a Raider. Once the Raider is dead
you can talk to Dogmeat and ask him to join you.
Lock picking:
-------------
Use the following trick to avoid breaking bobby pins when trying to pick a lock. Just
before the bobby pin is going to break, exit that screen then go back. You will save a
lot of bobby pins by doing this. This also works when trying to get a password for
computers.
Fear Factory reference:
-----------------------
Enter the museum, and examine the notice on the wall terminal to the far right. The
text is about a virus infecting their Archetype, and at the end it repeats parts of
the song "Archetype" by Fear Factory: "the infection has been removed, the soul of this
machine has improved".
The Replicated Man quest: Get both rewards:
-------------------------------------------
When you discover the identification of the android and are deciding to turn him in or
warn him, go to the android first. Convince him to go to Zimmer on his own and he will
reward you. After that, go to Zimmer in the science lab. Tell him about the android's
identity. He will also reward you. Note: You will still get bad karma.
You can get both rewards if you go to Harkness (the android) first and agree to help
him. One option when you agree to help him is gaining permission to kill Dr Zimmer and
his bodyguard. You will get the plasma rifle from Harkness and then can go to the
science lab. At that point you can betray Harkness and tell Zimmer his identity. You
will then gain the VATS Perk from Zimmer. When Zimmer attempts to leave to look for
Harkness, you can still kill him and his bodyguard with no penalty from the locals.
When you return to Harkness he is none the wiser, and acknowledges that you have killed
Zimmer. By doing this you will get both rewards and Harkness remains in Rivet City.
Easy caps:
----------
1)Note: Only proceed if you want to take the "evil" path. After agreeing to help Mr. Burke
nuke Megaton, go into every single house and steal everything (any little piece of junk
you can carry). Sell them to the local shops (Craterside Supplies, The Restaurant,
Moriarty's Saloon, etc.). If a particular house is locked or you need a key to get into
a safe or something of that nature, simply kill the owner of said property and get the
key from his or her body. Kill everyone in sight, especially the shop owners because you
can get access to their entire inventory, plus the caps that you have already spent on
them. Kill every one and collect everything to leave Megaton empty. You should have at
least 600 caps. Remember to sell some of the things you gather to the shop owners because
you cannot fast travel when over encumbered. This can be done in almost any town you visit.
To avoid getting over encumbered, get all the supplies that you can possibly carry, then
drop the rest just outside of Megaton. Fast travel to Rivet City or some other marketplace.
Sell what you have, then return to Megaton and repeat the process.
2)Save all pre-war books you found (not scorched or ruined). Go to the Arlington library.
At the southeastern corner you can find an NPC that will buy those books for 100 caps each.
You will also get 10 experience points for each book you sold.
3)Do the "Riley's Rangers" side quest. After rescuing Riley and escorting her back to her
base, she will ask if you want to help her out by mapping the area, and that she will pay
you. Do not tell her that you will help her just yet. After reaching level 20, use the
"Explorer" Perk. Once you have revealed every location on the map, go back to her and
tell her that you will help her out. Then, tell her you have got some new locations for
her. Depending on whether or not you have already done it, you can make upwards of 2,200
caps.
Super Mutant Behemoth locations:
--------------------------------
There are five Super Mutant Behemoths that can be found and killed. After they die they
cannot respawn. You can find them at the following locations.
Galaxy News Radio : This Behemoth will destroy a wall just outside the GNR Building as
you enter the area (quest related).
Evergreen Mills : At the bandit camp near Vault 112, a Behemoth is behind an electric
enclosure beside the train tracks. When the generator powering the
enclosure is destroyed the Behemoth will escape.
The Capitol Building - Use the west entrance and go inside the main room. Look on the map.
The room is straight down the hall from the entrance. However debris
will force you to find an alternate route there.
Takoma Industrial - Located east of the GNR Building at the end of the map. The Behemoth
is just north of the factory, standing in the middle of some wrecked
cars.
Jury Station - Go west until you find a group of crumpled up train cars. Search
this area until the Behemoth appears. You will know if you are in
the correct area if you see a teddy bear in a shopping cart.
Fixing negative skill points:
-----------------------------
You may end up with a negative number of skill points after leveling up due to cheat code
use. To fix this, display the console window at the point allocation screen.
Enter player.setav 0 to enough skills to negate the negative number. Type CloseAllMenus
to close the skill menu and bring it back again. You should have a positive amount of skill
points, and should no longer need to reload a saved game before you leveled up.
Easy Stealing, Hacking, and Speech bonuses:
-------------------------------------------
Save the game before starting a dialogue with a Speech bonus, hacking a computer, lock picking,
or pick pocketing. Simply reload the game if you fail the challenge.
Defeating robots in the Wastelands:
-----------------------------------
Run up a steep hill with the robot at the bottom. Some robots have problems shooting upwards
at a steep angle. Shoot at them as you are running up the hill to destroy them easily.
Get More Inventory:
-------------------
Unload all your equipment on a companion character, or acquire the house in Megaton and
use its lockers to store stuff.
Free XP:
--------
In Big Town, speak to Bittercup about dating. Then go to the Common House and speak to Pappy.
Click the "Bittercup" speech option over and over to gain XP.
Extra Inventory Space:
----------------------
If you’re running out of room in your inventory and don’t want to ditch any of your gear,
consider trying to find a companion character. These companions can be found at various
places throughout the world and will agree to join you on your journey (temporarily). You
can trade equipment with these characters, which will allow you to dump your equipment on
them, making you virtually unencumbered. Consider this option when you not only need help
with bad guys, but help carrying your crap as well!
Free Evil Items at Paradise Falls:
----------------------------------
If you have bad karma (or don’t mind having even worse karma), head over to Paradise Falls,
a place a group of evil slavers call home. To gain entrance without having to open fire,
you have to be friendly with the slavers, which will give you an evil slant. But if you
can do this, you’ll find a guy endlessly walking around the settlement (he’s usually at or
near the bar, but can be elsewhere). When you get near him, he’ll stop you automatically,
tell you he found some cool stuff on a recent raid, and give you some of what he got (it
will be either some ammunition, Bottle Caps, or various aid items). After your first
encounter, all you have to do is keep speaking to him to earn more and more free stuff.
Abraham Lincoln shrine:
-----------------------
The house with the Luck bobblehead also contains a hidden shrine to Abraham Lincoln.
Secret weapons cache:
---------------------
There is a hidden area in the National Guard Armory that contains an experimental MIRV
gun (the most powerful weapon in the game) and the Small Arms bobblehead.
Set Skills/Attributes:
----------------------
Use the codes "player.setav [skill], [nr]" for skills and "player.setav [attribute] [nr]"
for attributes.
Note: Skills and attributes are written in small letters, together as one word.
"Melee Weapons" turns to "meleeweapons".
You can also use "modpca [attribute] [nr]" to raise attribute points.
Example: modpca strength 5 will raise your Strength by 5. Max is 10.
Stowing Goods on Dead Bodies:
-----------------------------
Here’s another great technique, if you’re carrying too much stuff and find yourself
encumbered. You know how you can search downed enemies’ corpses for the goods they
carry? Well, you can also place your own goods onto the corpse. Since corpses tend
to stay around after they die seemingly indefinitely (or, at least, for a good long
time), you can drop presently unneeded items onto the corpse of a foe you’ve slain,
and then go back at a later date to get your stuff back. This is a great way to never
become encumbered.
Hidden sniper rifle cache:
--------------------------
You can find a sniper rifle and other supplies hidden in a rock near Megaton.
Unlimited Items :
-----------------
If you have a sneak rating of at least 60, you can attempt this infinite goods trick,
which takes place at Fort Independence. Head to Fort Independence with a bunch of Scrap
Metal in your inventory. Once there, speak with Protector Casdin and tell him you've
got junk you'd like to give him. In return, he'll offer up 5.56mm Rounds, Frag Grenades,
RadAways, and Stimpaks, and you can choose which you want. Then, save your game (in case
you fail the following) and steal your Scrap Metal back from the Protector. Sell the
Scrap Metal back to him over and over again, thereby netting you infinite amounts of
5.56mm ammunition, Frag Grenades, RadAways and Stimpaks.
Tip: Easy experience points:
----------------------------
Use the following to get 5 experience points as many times as desired. Go to Craterside
Supply with two frag mines. Go behind the wall behind the mercenary and place one. When
it is making the sound like it is about to explode, disarm it, pick it up and repeat.
Tommy James And The Shondells reference:
----------------------------------------
At Paradise Falls are two slaves around Eulogy's Pad named Crimson and Clover. They are
Eulogy Jones' bodyguards. This is a reference to a song by Tommy James And The Shondells
called "Crimson And Clover".
Dart Gun:
---------
The first part of the schematic for the Dart Gun are found at the MDPL-05 Power Station
on the northwest tip of the Capital Wasteland. Another part is obtained from Hannibal
Hamlin after completing the Lincoln Memorial quest for the slaves. The last schematic is
found in a locked chest at the Boutique Le Chic in Tenpenny Tower. Parts required are a
toy car, surgical tubing, paint gun, and Radscorpion poison gland. The Dart Gun cripples
your target's legs. It is very useful when used on fast melee opponents such as Deathclaws.
It also poisons your target for eight seconds.
Alien and alien blaster:
------------------------
Go to the Minefield then head north if you keep going you'll eventually pick up a radio
signal from the alien space craft when you find it there is a space craft and special
gun with limited ammo.
Save Your AP:
-------------
Here's an awesome technique to save Action Points (AP) used in VATS. If you're feeling
confident when fighting an enemy or group of enemies, simply aim at an enemy in VATS,
but don't fire. You'll retain your AP but still be aiming at the part of the enemy's
body in question that you were in VATS. If you shoot quickly enough, you should still
strike the desired area without having to expend any AP whatsoever.
Super Mutant Karma:
-------------------
If you want to earn infinite amounts of good karma, head to Big Town. If you go there
at night, the town will come under attack from a Super Mutant raiding party. For each
Super Mutant you help the few residents of Big Town slay, a small amount of good karma
can be earned. Repeat this process as much as you want for the amount of good karma
desired.
Infinite Caps and more:
-----------------------
Here is a great way to earn seemingly infinite amounts of caps, items, repairs and ammunition.
Find any shop-based trader. The supply shop woman in Megaton is an ideal choice. She has some
high value items that you would otherwise spend a fortune on, including all the stuff for your
house and a schematic for the Rock-It Launcher.
1.Sell her any stuff in your inventory that you don't need and complete the transaction.
This will boost the amount of money she has.
2.Find something in your inventory that you have two of, or that you have one of as well as
her. Sell this found item to her.
3.Check that the two like items are of different values once they are in her inventory. The
bigger the difference in value, the better and the lower the cheapest item is the better.
4.Now buy back the cheaper of the two like items and complete the transaction, but do not
leave the trade session. Look for the item in your inventory. The game should have glitched
and the item should have gone up in value dramatically and should be 100% repaired, even
though when you sold the item initially it wasn't.
5.If it isn't 100% repaired for whatever reason, sell the item back to her anyway and repeat
step 3-4, trying a different item if necessary.
6.From here, the game will remain glitched and you will be able to sell the same item high
and buy it back low until you have drained her money completely. If you want, you can hold
onto the item as it will be fully repaired - simply keep it on the final round which will
leave her with a small amount of money.
7.Either sell the item back to her again once she is out of money, or if you are keeping it,
sell her something else of high value and she will owe you that amount. The transaction
price will go dim and remain at whatever amount of money she has left.
8.Search through her inventory and find stuff you need. Stimpaks, ammo, miscellaneous item,
weapons and armor are all fair game. Eventually, the transaction price will light up again
and you may owe her a few caps depending on how much of her stuff you added to the deal.
Complete the transaction.
9.If you wait three days she will have new stock and around 350 caps. The longer you wait,
the more robust her inventory will become and the more caps she'll have for you to take
when you're ready to do this all over again.
Easy experience points:
-----------------------
Place frag mines behind the merc standing against the wall in Craterside Supply (found in
Megaton) then quickly pick them up. You will get a small amount of experience for disarming
the mine. Have a few frag mines in your inventory (so you do not have to re-equip the mines),
then go into the room behind the merc. Get close to the back side of the wall that the merc
is leaning against and place a mine. Quickly pick it up as it will immediately be armed and
ticking. Repeat as this as necessary.
Fat Man:
--------
To get the passcode to the experimental MIRV gun, collect all of the Keller family transcripts.
The gun is the named Fat Man, and it shoots eight mini-nukes at a time.
Fall long distances without dying:
----------------------------------
If you find yourself falling off a bridge or cliff, simply save the game in mid-air close to
the ground and reload it. You will land safely on the ground.
Early detection:
----------------
When wandering around in the world or towns, use the following trick to get an early heads
up on enemies, encounters, or learn who is nearby. Keep tapping [V.A.T.S.] while searching
at all angles. If there is something out there, you will get the V.A.T.S. zoom in with a
low score. You will at least know what is there and can figure out a plan of attack or how
best to sneak around it.
Ozzy Osbourne reference:
------------------------
In the Underworld (located inside the Museum of History), there is a ghoul named "Mister
Crowley". This is a reference to a song by Ozzy Osbourne called "Mr.Crowley".
Sideways Missile:
-----------------
First, hotkey the laser pistol and launcher. Then, go into third person, pull out the
lazer pistol, and hold down the aim button. Now without letting go of the aim button,
pull out the missile launcher. If done correctly, the missile that is loaded will be
outside the launcher, stuck to the side of it. but it will still shoot forward.
Ol' Painless:
-------------
Ol' Painless is a Hunting Rifle that shoots faster than a normal one. You can find it in
The Republic Of Dave (In the top right corner of the wasteland). To get it the easy way
with good Karma, start the quest Gotta Shoot Em' In The Head (From Mister Crowley in
Underworld) Then you can ask Dave for the key that Crowley needs, and he'll give it to
you, which opens a safe in the corner of the room that Dave is usually in, There you
will find Ol' Painless, Or you can just go in "Guns Blazing" and shoot everyone and take
the key from his body and open the safe.
Free Scoped .44 Magnum:
-----------------------
All you need is the Child at Heart perk. First go to Megaton and speak to the child named
aggie. Choose the child at heart speech, and she will tell you Billy Creel (the man that
looks after her) put a safe in their house. She then tells you the code. All you have to
do is find it near the shelves in the corner (it is a floor safe) open it and take the
magnum.
Hacking:
--------
If you move your cursor throughout the symbols, sometimes you will highlight a group of
symbols. Selecting these "duds" will remove one of the words that is wrong from your
choices. Also, it may grant you an additional attempt if you have already gotten a
selection wrong.
Defeating Super Mutants:
------------------------
The hunting rifle is the best common weapon. Head shots in or out of V.A.T.S. work well;
Chinese assault rifle, or combat shotgun up close. The scoped .44 Magnum and sniper rifle
are great if you have the ammunition. Use grenades and missiles for groups. Aim low with
the missile launcher because it tends to wander a bit in flight. If you have a few seconds
of distance between you, drop a few mines for them. They will run over them. The Centaurs
are like Super Mutant guard dogs, because if you see one there are probably Super Mutants
near. Killing the Centaurs is necessary at times, but they are almost always empty upon
searching the corpse. Also when in a area controlled by Super Mutants, always check the
gore bags. It may be gross, but it is a good place to scrounge for items.
Stealing items without getting caught:
--------------------------------------
As you'd probably know, to successfully steal an item without getting caught (which will
warrant any person "detecting" you to take away everything you stole) is to steal an item
in crouch mode with the "hidden" description viewable on your screen.
There are however, some times that are constantly guarded (or simply because your sneak
skill isn't high enough) which makes it almost impossible to steal the item without
detection. An extremely easy work-around method is to utilize the "grab" ability (default
key "Z"), grab the item and move to a darker corner of the room, until the "detected"
description turns to "hidden". Thus, you can steal any item to your hearts desire.
Exploding Pants:
----------------
Exploding pants (see: Pant Exploded in PipBoy) in Fallout 3 refers to a technique to blow
up an enemy by successfully planting a grenade in their inventory (via pick pocketing).
A successful grenade plant will warrant an instant kill...as well possibly increasing the
alert level of target's allies (if any).
-=Requirements=-
1.Target must be human. Which to a certain extent is the only type that actually has pants
to blow up in the first place. :p Despite popular belief...mutants cannot be targeted for
this technique (although there are suspicious of it possible through a "Herbert saga" in
the GNR radio station), thus -->Mutants cannot have their pants blown off. This also
applies to animals, robots or any enemy that cannot be "pick pocketed;"
2.Player must be in sneak mode.
3.In sneak mode, status must be "Hidden." There are some rare cases where you can still
attempt to pick pocket while the enemy is in "Caution" mode. Usually works, if the enemy
doesn't have a direct line of sight to your position.
4.Enemies under "Danger" alert status cannot be pick pocketed.
In Fallout 3 it is impossible to sneak up on a human opponent without detection (unless
of course the human is not hostile). Thus, the only way to use this technique against
hostile human opponents is to conduct it in areas where there isn't a direct-line-of-sight,
such as corridors. The easiest way (besides having a 100 sneak skill) is to use a "Stealth
Boy" which renders you almost invisible as long as you remain in sneak mode.
Mind you that the a successful pant will explode in a few seconds, which means you need to
hurry as far away from the target as possible. This also means that if you successfully
plant a grenade in an open space, there is a good chance that you will also get injured
in the process. Make sure there are obstacles for you to hide behind when you see the
underwear flying.
Pimp clothing items:
--------------------
The location of pimp type clothing is as follows.
Tenpenny : Tenpenny Tower
Eulogu Jones : Paradise Falls
Shadey Hat : Wasteland Survival Guide Mission (optional quest reward).
Mr. Burke : Megaton or Pre-War business wear.
Leap without dying:
-------------------
Use the following trick where getting off a high location is a shortcut that will save
you time and walking a long distance. Note: The trick is more difficult the higher you
are. Equip a Bottlecap mine. Stand on the edge where you will jump. Throw the Bottlecap
mine down towards the ground. Immediately as it leaves your hand, jump off the edge on
top of the falling Bottlecap mine. The Bottlecap mine seems to fall slower than other
objects, making it somewhat easier to land on. Keep landing on the Bottlecap mine as it
falls to the ground.
Note: This requires skill and good aim. If done correctly, when you reach the ground you
will have lost minimal health. Pick up the Bottlecap mine and continue.
Skydiving:
----------
If you want to jump off a really high building and survive, just before you land activate
V.A.T.S. and attack something and you will survive.
Pack Mule:
----------
If you haven't found this out yet but you can use your followers as pack mules. Just talk
to them and tell them you wanted to trade equipment. Give them all your stuff. You will be
almost empty and able to carry twice as many items.
Getting Colonel Autumns Longcoat And Laer Pistol:
-------------------------------------------------
I wont give away any spoilers but if you have already beat the game then you know what
I'm talking about. To get it, don't start the last mission. Go to the Jefferson Memorial.
Obviously there is a forcefield there so either go to the left or the right of the forcefield
and jump on the rocks nearest to it and jump behind it. Go up the ramp and walk past the
enclave soldiers. They will not attack you and you can actually talk to them! So continue
down and enter the memorial. Keep going through until you reach the rotunda. When you enter
the room Colonel Autumn will be standing there but do not talk to him! You can just kill
him and take everything he has because he will eventually respawn. Then look down at his
body and take his laser pistol. Instead of a single shot his pistol is repeating fire so
go out there and destroy!
Steady Aim:
-----------
When you get a high enough Small Guns skill, your sniper rifles and .44 magnums should be
steady aimed when you're in the scope. I don't exactly know what number Small Guns has to
be, but I am 99 points so it's probably in the 90s.
Alien Blaster Ammunition:
-------------------------
Okay, if you're a person with bad Karma, I recommend you do this. Go to Fort Independence
and go down either the F.I. Lower Levels entrance, if you have a pick skill of 100, or if
not, I don't know what's required for the main entrance. Go to the lower levels, and kill
all the outcasts. Enter the room where an outcast was observing a computer, then go up to
the door on your left, (you need a lockpick skill of 75) and get all the ammo in the
containers. The second table with ammo boxes should have Alien Blaster ammo, and you
should receive 18-24 bullets total.
Dinosaur eggs:
--------------
Fast travel to Warrington Station, just south of Tennpenny Tower, and head south by
southwest right beside Lucky's and get on the hill and look south by southwest (you have
to have a scoped weapon, sniper, scoped .44, ect.) and there will be a crater just on the
other side of the end-of-the-map barrier and inside it is what appears to be dinosaur eggs.
Two Followers:
--------------
I'm running an evil character. I had Clover (the Slave girl) from Euligy and I went to get
Charons (the ghoul) from the guy that has his contract (starts with a or something) and
after getting his contract, I had both Clover and Charon following me around. I don't know
if it'll work with other followers, but i don't see any reason why not, just get Charon
last, you can't recruit more if you've got him with you.
Infinite XP:
------------
You can gain infinite XP if your speech skill is high enough.(around 30). Go to"Big Town"
located north of Vault 101. Speak with a girl named Bittercup. She should tell you about
her dating exploits. After speaking with her, go to the house marked "Common House" and
speak to a man named Pappy. There should be a speech skill dialogue option that says "You
came here with Bittercup, right?" You will get XP every time you click it. Continue to do
this and you can rack up XP in mere seconds.
The Enclave is the Shadow Government:
-------------------------------------
In Fallout 3 it is never said but in previous fallout games it is revealed that the Enclave
is the U.S. shadow government. The Shadow Government is a factual organization that is and
exact but secret and inactive replica as the normal government having a President, Supreme
Court, Senate and so on. This government is in place so that should anything happen to the
government (Such as a nuclear war). There would still be a government to replace them.
Hidden Hacking Help:
--------------------
When you're hacking, the excess symbols between viable passwords selected and used to your
advantage. You'll need to find clusters of symbols bracketed by parentheses, such as
(%$*!^*&&), which can be highlighted as a whole. Submitting this should result in a removal
of a bad password or fully replenish your attempts.
Remember: You can always back out and restart to avoid lockout.
Prototype Medic Power Armor:
----------------------------
The Prototype Medic Power Armor is in Old Olney in the far northeast corner of the world
map. Since you'll encounter many Death Claws, you may want to set the difficulty to "Very
Easy" before exploring this area. On the southern-most street Old Orney is a manhole. Use
it to access the sewers. As you make your way through the sewers, you'll come across a
ladder on your left. Keep moving past it and a downed Brotherhood of Steel Initiate will
be on the ground. You can take the armor from the corpse. Here's the kicker: it talks!
Oh, and it auto-administers Med-X when your limbs are damaged.
0l'Painless:
------------
When you first arrive at the front gate there will be a child that will take you to Dave,
after you finish talking to Dave, kill him and take his key and use it to open the safe
right next to him. In the safe there will be a rifle that is called the 0l'painless. the
rifle does 21 damage but it's way better than the sniper and a lot easier to repair and
find ammo for it.
Infinite Speech Opportunity:
----------------------------
In Little Lamplight there is a girl named Knock Knock talk with her and ask her about
morale, continue talking with her without insulting and eventually you will come across a
speech challenge. You don't need a high speech level to get [100%] on it, after completing
it you can continuously ask the same thing and get the EXP. This problem works as of patch
1.10 and is a great way to get the Silver Tounged Devil trophy.
The Alien Blaster:
------------------
Head due north from the MDPL-13 Power Station and you'll soon find a small mountain.
On the east side of this mountain you'll pick up a Recon Craft Theta radio signal. This
will occur when you are just a bit north of an imaginary horizontal line through Greener
Pastures Disposal Site to the far east. Search the east side of the slope for a destroyed
house and you'll soon come across the source of the signal just west of that: a downed
flying saucer. Its pilot can be found below the open cockpit (beware the radiation!). Near
the pilot is the Alien Blaster and a bunch of ammo rods. This powerful weapon gets critical
hits frequently and is the bane of Behemoths. You'll find ammo for it randomly throughout
the wasteland if you're lucky, so use the ammo you'v got sparingly!
Secret Stash In Fake Rock:
--------------------------
If you are facing Megaton's entrance, go to the right, and try to keep between the sheets
of metal covering Megaton and the rocks. It's in a cluster of three rocks together, but
keep pressing A on all of them to make sure you don't pass it. My suggestion is to only
do this if you didn't blow up Megaton. Otherwise, bring some Radaway to deal with the
radiation.
Incredible Hulk reference:
--------------------------
While searching for you, some robots can be heard saying "Don't make me angry, you wouldn't
like me when I'm angry." It's a line David Banner says repeatedly in The Incredible Hulk TV
series from the 80's.
Skip storyline:
---------------
In main storyline, when you first enter the Wasteland level up until at least level 2.
Instead of going to Megaton or the GNR radio station, go to Rivet City, and talk to Doctor
Li. If this is done when you get to the GNR radio station part of the storyline, you will
be able to skip that entire section. Note: Rivet City is located near the end of the map
in the southwest region.
Followers:
----------
There are 8 followers in Fallout 3. You must have a certain Karma level for most of them.
Below is a list of the followers and how / where to get them:
Butch - In Rivet City, after completing Trouble on the Homefront [Neutral Karma]
Sergeant Rl-3 - A robot who can be bought of a wasteland-wandering salesman named Tinker
[Neutral Karma]
Fawkes - Must be saved in Vault 87 [Good Karma]
Star Paladin Cross - Found in the Citadel [Good Karma]
Jericho - Found in Megaton [Evil Karma]
Clover - A slave bought in Paradise Falls [Evil Karma]
Charon - A ghoul whose contract must be purchased Ahzrukhal in The Underworld
[Karma does not matter]
Dogmeat - A dog found in the Scrap Yard [Karma does not matter]
Unique Weapons:
---------------
-=The Vengeance=-
In the Deathclaw Sanctuary (northwest corner of the world map), follow the caves down and
be prepared for many a Deathclaw encounter. In the southeastern corner of the caves is a
pool of blood under a column of rock. In this pool there is a heap of gore with the V
engeance, an overpowered Laser Gatling Gun.
-=Waser Wifle=-
After getting access to Little Lamplight, you’ll find a child named “Biwwy” who will sell
you the Waser Wifle, an augmented Laser Rifle, for 500 caps. If you have the Child at Heart
Perk, you can get it for free (choose “You said you didn’t need it, why not just give it to
me for free?”).
-=Abe Lincoln’s Repeater Rifle=-
Enter the Museum of Natural History and go to the lower levels. In the Museum Offices,
there is a central room with a gun case. Lincoln’s Repeater Rifle is here, a strong Hunting
Rifle that uses .44 rounds.
Feeling Lucky:
--------------
You have to have saved Red, then helped Big Town from the super mutants. Go into Red's Clinic
and there will be someone laying on the bed (not sure if this is a random encounter). If you
heal him he will give you his Lucky Eight Ball and there will be a pop up saying "You are now
feeling lucky!" You're luck is now increased by 1! It will be increased by one as long as
you hold it, but once you drop it your luck is reduced back to normal.
Scrubs reference:
-----------------
In the Republic Of Dave, during the election tell Dave's son, Bob, that he is not meant
to lead. He will reply, "Oh yeah? Well... .er... So's your face!" This is a reference to
an episode of the television show Scrubs where whenever Dr. John Dorian (JD) gets insulted,
he only replies "So's your face."
The Kneecapper:
---------------
In Girdershade, in the southwest corner of the world map, the town letch, Ronald, has a
Sawed-Off Shotgun named the Kneecapper. You’ll have to kill him to get it, passively (via
a pissed off radscorpion) or actively (a shot to the head).
Terrible Shotgun:
-----------------
In Evergreen Mills, in the southwest corner of the world map, you’ll find a heavily protected
raider hideout, including a Super Mutant Behemoth. Inside the center building is a series of
caves where the raiders have set up a brothel and a bar. One of these raiders won’t attack you,
and his name is Smiling Jack. He’s a trader, but you should trade him a bullet to the head for
his Terrible Shotgun, a better Combat Shotgun.
Smugglers End:
--------------
Once you gain access to the Brotherhood Citadel you can take, search or lockpick anything
that you want. When you are in the Solar room you can lockpick the Elder Lyons safe (if
your lockpick skill is high enough) and find 300 caps, other misc. items and Smugglers End,
a powerful laser pistol.
Extra Weapons:
--------------
This cheat only applies to the Operation Anchorage downloadable content pack. As soon as you
are able to control your own strike team, you'll be able to get specific weapon loadouts from
a terminal. If you give these to the Quartermaster, you can go get another loadout. Drop all
the new stuff and talk to the Quartermaster. He'll give you your stuff sans ammo. That's no
problem though, since you can head to the ammo dispenser for more. Pick up the weapons on the
ground when you're ready to go, or repeat for all the weapons you can handle.
Fear Factory reference:
-----------------------
Enter the museum, and examine the notice on the wall terminal to the far right. The text
is about a virus infecting their Archetype, and at the end it repeats parts of the song
"Archetype" by Fear Factory: "the infection has been removed, the soul of this machine
has improved".
Stealing:
---------
To successfully steal an item without getting caught you must take it in crouch mode with
the "hidden" description viewable on your screen. However, there are items that are constantly
guarded or require a very high Sneak skill. To steal those items easier, you can use the
"Grab" ability. Simply grab the item and move to a darker part of the room until the "detected"
description turns to "hidden".
More inventory space:
---------------------
* You can use your followers as storage. Talk to them and tell them you want to trade equipment.
Give them all your non-essential items.
* You can also place your own items onto the enemy corpses. Because the corpses remain almost
indefinitely, you can drop non-essential items onto the corpse of an enemy then return at a
later time to recollect it.
Operation Anchorage: Extra weapons:
-----------------------------------
When you are in control of your strike team you can get specific weapon loadouts from a
terminal. Give the weapons to the Quartermaster and you can get another loadout. Drop all the
new weapons and talk to the Quartermaster. He will give you your weapons, but without ammunition.
Go to the ammunition dispenser to restock, then pick up the weapons that you dropped. You can
repeat this as needed.
Easter Egg: Text-Based Adventure:
---------------------------------
In the Publishing wing of Hubris Comics, some terminals will allow you to play a text-based
adventure (ala Zork: The Great Underground Empire) called Reign of Grelok (beta). The objective
of this game is to kill Grelok, for which there is no physical reward. Study up on your text-
based adventures before venturing out on your quest: Use the commands N S E W for directions,
and use basic terms to speak to people. Don't forget to swear!
The Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivion reference:
----------------------------------------
There is a certain location where you can find a building named Fort Faragut. This is the name
of the fort where Lucien Lachance lives for the Dark Brotherhood side story in The Elder Scrolls
4: Oblivion.
Reverse pick pocketing:
-----------------------
The following method is used to put something into the target's pockets, rather than removing
things. You also can be caught doing this, and it will still result in Karma loss, but it does
have some interesting uses. Any mine or grenade placed in someone's pocket will become live,
exploding after a few seconds. This is why there is a Pants Exploded statistic in your Pip-Boy
records. Also, all NPC AIs, not only those of your companions, will cause them to wear any armor
with a higher DR than their own. If you put, for example, a Power Helmet in Three Dog's inventory,
he will be wearing it on the next load and you will be able to pickpocket his unique head wrap
(Charisma +1. Luck +1). Many items can be obtained through reverse pick pocketing that could not
be obtained otherwise without needless death. This works with weapons as well, but the AI
instructions for weapon use are much more complicated, involving range, damage per round, and
damage per second as well as the usual DMG rating. Consequently, using this trick to obtain
weapons may not always work.
Where to find Dogmeat:
----------------------
Dogmeat, the only animal character you can have as your friend, is in a place called Scrapyard.
If you accept Moira Brown's quest to go to a place called Minefield, then you will likely
encounter Scrapyard on the way. If not, then it is to the south of Minefield. Keep searching
the Scrapyard and you will eventually find him. But how you get him to come with you is your
problem.
Broken Steel - Achievements:
----------------------------
Complete the following achievements to unlock Microsoft Gamerscore points.
Death From Above (30 points) : Completed "Death From Above".
Shock Value (30 points) : Completed "Shock Value".
Who Dares Wins (30 points) : Completed "Who Dares Wins".
Devil (20 points) : Reached Level 30 with Bad Karma.
True Mortal (20 points) : Reached Level 30 with Neutral Karma.
Messiah (20 points) : Reached Level 30 with Good Karma points.
Vampire's Edge:
---------------
This is a unique Chinese officer's sword with 15 damage. It is found at Meresti Station in
Vance's sword cabinet in his bedroom. Note: If you kill Vance to get his key, it will make
the entire Family hostile towards you, as well as the citizens of Arefu if you have already
completed the "Blood Ties" quest to make both communities allies. The sword only has 50%
durability when found but can be repaired using ordinary Chinese officer's swords. Because
of its very low weight, fast attack speed, high critical chance, and good durability, the
Vampire's Edge is a very good melee weapon despite its lower base damage.
Wazer Wifle:
------------
This is a unique augmented laser rifle with 28 damage. Gain access to Little Lamplight, and
find the child named "Biwwy". He will sell you the Wazer Wifle for 250 or 500 Caps. Note: If
you have the "Child At Heart" perk, you can get the weapon for free by selecting the "You said
you didn't need it, why not just give it to me for free?" option.
Cheaper Stimpaks:
-----------------
Instead of paying 37 Caps or more for Stimpaks, go to Tenpenny Tower. Go to the bar, save
the game, hack the terminal, and activate the 50% VIP Discount and 10% Holiday Discount
to get everything on the menu for what it is worth. The inventory is:
Beer : 2 Caps
Stimpak : 25 Caps
Vodka : 20 Caps
Whiskey : 10 Caps
Wine : 10 Caps
After doing this, the value of items you sell there also increases. For example, a pack
of cigarettes with a value of 10 Caps now has a selling price of 9 Caps.
Pimp clothing items:
--------------------
The location of pimp type clothing is as follows:
Eulogu Jones : Paradise Falls
Mr. Burke : Megaton or Pre-War business wear
Shadey Hat : Wasteland Survival Guide Mission (optional quest reward)
Tenpenny : Tenpenny Tower
Secret weapons cache in National Guard Armory:
----------------------------------------------
There is a hidden area in the National Guard Armory that contains an experimental MIRV
gun (the most powerful weapon in the game) and the Small Arms bobblehead.
Butch's Toothpick:
------------------
This is a slightly more powerful switchblade. It can be obtained from Butch after the
"Trouble At The Home Front" quest by either killing him or getting him as a follower.
Blade Runner reference:
-----------------------
The .233 pistol's design is a reference to the pistol carried by Harrison Ford's character,
Rick Deckard, in the movie Blade Runner.
If done correctly, when you
reach the ground you will have lost minimal health. Pick up the Bottlecap mine and continue.
Protectron's Gaze:
------------------
Protectron's Gaze is a unique laser pistol that fires a cluster of beams at the same time.
It is usually more effective when fired outside of VATS. It has a slightly slower rate of
fire and smaller magazine than a standard laser pistol. It is repaired with standard laser
pistols. The weapon is constructed from parts of the Mechanist's Protectron assistant at
the Robot Repair Center at Canterbury Commons.
